Ecological Network Research

In my masters program, I work with Dr. Fernanda Valdovinos on the identification, generation, characterization, and prediction of ecological networks with tools from dynamic systems, complex systems theory, and machine learning. We do large-scale simulations on university super-computing clusters and analyze the results with a variety of different techniques. This has been very engaging research, as it is exposing me to a new domain and the subtelties that lie therein.

In particular, we are working on novel research directed at understanding the assembly of these networks, and coupling the dynamics of the system with the structure of the network to approach a more holistic understanding of ecosystems.
