Another project I worked on at Michigan Aerospace Corporation involved tracking patients pupil perturbations to detect and quanitfy nystagmus. Nystagmus is an indicator of congenital disorders, sleep deprivation, central nervous system disorders, blood alcohol content, and intoxication by various other drugs. We were working with a doctor at the University of Michigan hospital that believed it would be a good indicator of concussion.

I used a statistical computer vision approach to generate training labels for a convolutional neural network that was able to ideentify the position and movement of the pupil in real time streaming video, at 45 frames per second.
